![]() ![]() Much better is to use ALSA and engage the hardware setting (very easy in Strawberry, relatively easy in Audacious) which does not use any resampling and simply plays back the audio at the correct sample rate. You can change the resampler quality in Pipewire to 10 or 15 but the CPU load increases dramatically. A vanilla Arch Linux kernel is sufficient for low latency operation in most use. That brighter dotted line is material being reflected back into the audible range. Have I set up sound properly speaker-test. If you look up Pipewire (Quality 4) on and compare it to r8brain free (2.0) you'll see the difference between a live resampler and the highest quality now in REAPER. On Pipewire, the default resampling quality is level 4. I can't hear the difference when casually listening but it bugged me so I chose a different audio player. If you don't care about that or can't hear the difference then carry on as normal. There are better audio players on Linux for audiophile playback. It means your audio player (VLC) is not bit-perfect and resamples audio on the fly. By the way, my audio interface is a Solid State Logic SSL2, if that matters. I just can say that I have no problems at all, everything fine. Let me know if you have any more questions (although whether I can answer them all is another matter)!īuffer_size: 88200I don´t know if this is good or bad. ![]() When unchecked you could have obvious performance issues with the CPU going into sleep states and not waking up fast enough. Hopefully it permits the CPU to reach C1 only. I don't believe that having this checked allows things to get down to the very lowest and potentially over-heating situations. I have it checked and assume it is still "relevant" if pipewire is mimicking behavior of pulse. Yes, select "ALSA" as that uses pipewire-alsa behind the scenes.ģ. Just have both installed.they don't conflict.Ģ. Still in Reaper's audio device settings, should "Disable power management if supported (requires permissions to /dev/cpu_dmalaten)?ġ. Still in Reaper's audio device settings, is it relevant to check "Auto-suspend PulseAudio"?Ĥ. In the case that "pipewire-alsa" is installed, should we select "Alsa" in Reaper's audio device settings?ģ. Can we install "pipewire-alsa" instead of "pipewire-jack"?Ģ. Thank you Beth for the updates of the Manjaro Pro-Audio Guide.ġ. ![]()
